CALL FOR PAPERS

THE 10TH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE OF HONG KONG ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION

 

The 10th Biennial Conference of the Hong Kong Economic Association (HKEA) will be held at Xiamen University in Xiamen, China, from December 14 to 15, 2018. This year’s conference is co-organized with the School of Economics, Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE), and Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economics Research of Xiamen University. The Conference will bring academics and researchers together to present frontier research outputs and discuss recent economic issues of common concern.

One of the themes of this year’s Conference is China’s 40 years’ reform and opening-up. Accordingly, we have invited a number of renowned scholars to deliver keynote speeches. They include Chong-En Bai (Tsinghua University), Kaushik Basu (Cornell University), Rachel Ngai (London School of Economics), and Michael Zheng Song (The Chinese University of Hong Kong).   

Please submit your papers/abstracts by October 10, 2018. Preference will be given to completed papers. We welcome papers in all fields of economics. Submission should include a one-page abstract (plus full paper if available) with JEL numbers, key words, and detailed information of the author (full name, title, organization and contact information). Acceptance decision will be made by October 20, 2018 and only selected manuscripts will be notified. Registration should be made by November 1, 2018. Submissions will be reviewed and selected by the Scientific Committee.

The Scientific Committee is co-chaired by Xinpeng Xu (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and Yinggang Zhou (Xiamen University). Members include Stephen Chiu (The University of Hong Kong), Kang Shi (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Yuk Shing Cheng (Hong Kong Baptist University), Yong Wang (City University of Hong Kong), Haiqiang Chen (Xiamen University), Ying Fang (Xiamen University), Shihe Fu (Xiamen University), and Linlin Niu (Xiamen University).

Pacific Economic Review (SSCI), which is the journal of HKEA, will organize a PER session consisting of 3 papers from young scholars. The papers presented in this session will be considered for publication in PER after going through a fast referee process. If you would like your paper to be considered by the PER session, please make it clear when you submit your paper to the conference.

Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics (SSCI) is considering publishing a special issue including 6 to 7 papers selected from this conference. If you would like your paper to be considered by the APJAE special issue, please make it clear when you submit your paper to the conference.
