THE 1ST BIENNIAL CONFERENCE
2000 1st Biennial Conference on 14 - 16 December 2000 at City University of Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Economic Association will hold its first Biennial Conference on the City University of Hong Kong campus in 2000. The general theme will be “The Asian Pacific Economies in the New Millenium.” While papers on this general theme are particularly welcome papers on other subjects, both theoretical and empirical, are also invited. Special Sessions include: The Hong Kong Monetary Authority General Session on Monetary Issues in the Asia Pacific Region, and a Forum on the Competitiveness of Asian Economies. Other sessions are being organized by the seven sister university in Hong Kong.
The Biennial Conference is co-sponsored by: the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University, and the University of Hong Kong.
Authors may submit papers through the session organizers of the seven institutions, or alternatively submit abstracts to: Dr. Xiang-dong Wei, Department of Economics, Lingnan University, Tuen Mun, Hong Kong by September 15, 2000. Conference participants other than those serving as chairpersons will be subject to a registration fee of HK$780/US$100 for members of the HKEA/CEANA(or HK$1160/US$150 including the dinner speech). For non-members, registration fee is HK$1000/US$130 exclusive of the dinner and HK$1380/US$180 inclusive of dinner. Cheques should be payable to the Hong Kong Economic Association and sent to Department of Economics, Lingnan University. Conference papers submitted to the Pacific Economic Review within six months of the conference are exempt from the normal submission fee of US$30.
